Tea Party

This party happened last month, but I think I might have fixed my picture-orientation glich so I can share them with you now!

E's preschool buddy, Maya, had her fifth birthday party at the Meeker Mansion in Puyallup, where high tea was served. Ooh-la-la, it was very posh! All the girls were given pink hats & gloves with their party invites...



I think this will long be one of my favorite pics of Miss E at this age. It is just SOOOO "her!"

Overheard

This morning, the girls woke up early (so annoying, since I have had to wake them up for school all week) and were laying in their beds talking. We overheard this conversation:

"E, as long as you have someone sleeping in your room with you, you're safe from monsters."

"Nuh-uh. Monsters can still get you."

"No, that's why Mom and Dad have us share a room, so we're safe from monsters. And, why do you think that Mom and Dad share a room?!?"

With that logic, E was satisfied, and we had a chuckle (which was good 'cause I was pretty annoyed that they were already awake!)

Meditation

We just came home from taking M to school. E took off her coat and promptly sat down on the floor, criss-cross applesauce, with her elbows on her knees and palms upward. She closed her eyes, too. I said, "What are you doing?"

"Compromising."

"What does compromising have to do with the way you're sitting?"

"It just does."

"Do you mean that you're meditating?"

"Oh, yeah. I could do it alllllllll day."

"Where did you get that idea?"

"I saw it on a show."



Well, I guess she could be imitating worse things that she's seen!

I'm Officially a Grown-Up

My new friend, Heather, called on Saturday to see if I wanted to join her at the dollar theater to see "Step Up 2: The Streets." She said the first one was good, and hey, for two bucks, I'll try just about anything. Well, as it turns out, the plot was stupid, the acting was poor, but the dancing was entertaining. I can't say that I recommend it.

Toward the end of the movie, I had a huge, "Wow, I am really not cool" moment. The dancers get kicked out of the club they were going to compete at and have to "take it to the street." Of course, this huge crowd follows them, and it is raining buckets; bouncing off the pavement and creating enormous puddles. And, of course, they put on a flawless performance and are the clear "winner."

My first thought, "Oh, man. THAT'S a LOT of laundry!!!"

Goin' Private

So, after some psycho sabbatoged my brother's open blog and posted a very anti-Mormon comment, I have decided to make our blog private. I've been thinking about it, anyway, just thinkin' it would be nice to say our names and city w/o worrying about it. So, I will be sending out an invite soon. I Hate Cars

I really hate cars. Except that it sure beats walking.

This month, on P's commuter car, we have had to replace, one at a time:

the alternator,
the radiator,
and today, we found out the water pump is next.

When that's done, we will have spent $1000.

On a 1994 Mazda Protege! That has a speedometer that doesn't work. Oh, and the horn doesn't work, either! And, for some reason, it's always beeped the seatbelt sign at me indiscriminately whenever I drive it. I like to think it's b/c I'm just so thin that it thinks I couldn't possibly have a seat belt on. (ha!)

Did I mention that I hate cars?

These Shoes Were Made for Joggin'

M's school is gearing up for their Jog-a-Thon and I thought I'd toss it out there if anyone wants to lend any support for her. You can pledge now and pay after the event and you have the option of donating a flat amount, or donating per-lap. The info from school says kids average between 8 and 16 laps.

100% of the proceeds go right back into the school and are specifically designated to be used for phys ed stuff...sports, equipment, playground, etc.

M's goal is to raise $33 (the amount they're asking each kid to come up with). Of course, she'd be delighted to surpass her goal! (And we'd be delighted to not have to cough up $33!)

Her pledge sheet is due April 28th and the event is on the 30th.

Thanks, Mom & Dad

The girls and I went to my parent's for spring break. We had a great week with them and the weather even cooperated for some nice outdoor excursions. And, the weather's always good at the mall (unless you have two little girls with you. Then, you have to go to the movies instead). We took these pictures at the train station before heading home. I will post other pictures later, but I just wanted to put these on 'cause they're awfully cute.

E took the one of my mom and me. (Not bad for an almost-5 yr old!) Can you believe this lady is old enough to be my mom?! She really is! In high school, people used to ask me who they'd seen me with downtown, saying, "I didn't know you had a sister!" ;)

Big thanks to the padres for inviting us down. It is always such a treat to spend time with the two of you. Thanks for loving my kids as much - or maybe even more - than I do. They adore you guys, and so do I! Are you sure you won't reconsider moving to WA?!?

LOVE YOU!!! The 3 Curly Girls

It's a BOY!

I'm a new aunt today! My brother and his wife just had their third child half an hour ago. They have a boy and girl already, so they decided not to find out the gender this time around. Our little family all thought it would be a girl, but we're kinda programmed that way, I guess!

I can't wait to see pictures of this little guy and better yet, to hold him! It's been ages since I've held a newborn. I am so happy and relieved that he's here, safe and sound. The whole process is such a miracle, and I feel like laughing and crying all at the same time when I think of how incredible it is that he's just left our Heavenly Father and here he is, healthy and whole, ready to begin his mortal journey.

One down, two to go...another brother's wife is expecting their 3rd (also a boy!)at the end of this month, and P's brother's wife is expecting their 3rd in August.

I will breathe such a sigh of relief when they're all here!

(And, breathe such a sigh of gratitude that it's not me doing the "newborn thing" again! I mean, it's all very precious...and exhausting!!!)
