Who's That Girl?!

Waaay back in 1996, I had a friend who was a photo major in college. She asked if I would help her w/an assignment by coming over and wearing a black sweater and letting her take some pics of me. Okaaaay...I went along and these were the result. They made me laugh then, and make me smile now, so I've kept them tucked away in the filing cabinet.

Tonight, I was looking for important documents to copy & place w/our 72 hr kits when I ran across them. I showed them to the girls, and E didn't believe that it was me!
OUCH!

You know what I remember most about getting these pictures taken? Wishing she'd hurry up, 'cause she lived close to P, and I told him I'd stop by afterwards. We'd just started kissing a week or so prior, and I was anxious to go say "hello!"

Now not only will E not believe these pics are of me, she'll be totally grossed out, too!
Hey, a mom's gotta amuse herself somehow!

Career Day

Today was "Job Day" at school...the kids were supposed to wear clothes that showed what kind of career they'd like to have when they grow up.

M decided to just wear regular clothes and be a teacher.

That is, until she got home and told me,

"I told everybody I was a stay-at-home mom.
Except that my shirt wasn't wrinkly or dirty enough."
Thaaanks.

You Know You're in the NW When...

I found a new (to me) thrift store today. It was very clean and organized. Each rack even had a large, easy to read sign such as "Women's Jeans, S-M"

I smiled when I saw the rack that said,

"Women's Summer Sweaters"
Only in the Great Pacific NW!

(Really) Young Love

A few weeks ago:

E: "I have a boyfriend."
Me: "You mean, you have a friend who is a boy?"
E: "No. I have a boyfriend."
Me: "Who?"
E: "T"
Me: "Do you get to play with or talk to him?" (I volunteer in her class & had never seen them interact)
E: "No. He's always busy with his friends, and I'm always busy with mine."
Me: "Does he know he's your boyfriend?"
E: "MOM! NO!"
Me: "So what do you do differently since he's your boyfriend?"
E: *big sigh* "I just look at him. He's *sigh, flutter eyes* very attractive."
(And, I DO have to agree...he IS one of the cutest little boys I've ever seen!)

Today, after picking up both girls from school, E brought up her "boyfriend" again.

Me: "So, are you actually talking or playing with him?"
E: "No. We're both too busy."
M: "You mean you think you have a boyfriend but you don't even talk to him?! How come he's your boyfriend?!"
E: "I just like to look at him."
M: "E, since I am your big sister, I am going to give you some big sister advice. Never trust boys. They may look like they're all handsome and everything but then once you get to know them, they might not be actually very nice or smart or anything. You REALLY need to get to know him before he's your boyfriend. Take it from me, and learn from my experience, or you'll have to learn the hard way."

E: "I like the hard way."

I busted out laughing at this point, but I also think we're in trouble here...
